The SPP (Student Partnership Programme) is a new visa process launched by the Canadian High Commission and is in effect from May 1’ 2009. The Student Partners Programme (SPP) is an administrative framework designed and implemented in coalition with the Canadian visa offices in India and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). The Canadian System of Education

Post-secondary education is offered by four types of educational institutions.

Universities: Canadian Universities are mainly public-funded. Thus, high-quality education is available for international students at lower tuition fees, as compared to their competing counterparts.

University Colleges: The University Colleges are integrated with the Canadian University System. They offer students a choice of either academic-oriented university degree programmes or the more practical-oriented college diplomas and certificates.

Community colleges and technical institutes: They offer the ore vocational-oriented curriculum with small classes, off-campus course offerings, better laboratory and classroom space and an interactive teaching approach. Individuality to the Canadian colleges is offered by the combination of the different employer-centered curriculum.

Technical/ Career College: This is a privately-owned and operated the college. Their prime intent is to prepare the students for the job market after a short period of instructions. They emphasize more on practical expertise over a broad range of programmes.
